The Brooklyn Nets unveiled their new logo today, a black-and-white shield featuring the “B” that brings back memories of the Brooklyn Dodgers. Check out all the logos and gear at the official Brooklyn Nets site. Peace out New Jers, welcome to the heart of the Big Apple…Brooklyn Stand Up! The black-and-white combo is reminiscent of the Oakland/LA Raiders back in the eighties and the logo remains true to the Nets history by keeping the shield. Jay-Z stuck to his “The Black Album” color scheme instead of the Nets traditional red, white and “Blueprint.” Brooklyn is back, and Nets fans can order this tough new Brooklyn Nets gear today. Brooklyn Nets tee, some jeans and white Air Force Ones? It’s a wrap. Apparently the jerseys aren’t going to be available until September. At least then, maybe we’ll know if Deron Williams is going to be sticking around…any NBA free agent looking for a team to sign with in the offseason may sign with the Nets just because of these jerseys! I’m trying to think about what other NBA team’s colors look even close to this, all I can think of is San Antonio Spurs but they have that silver in their color scheme and are also one of the most boring teams ever unless Tony Parker is stealing a teammate’s wife. You know what would be nice? A Dwight Howard jersey in the Brooklyn Nets new black-and-white colors!
The last game for the New Jersey Nets was a sellout, but the Olive Garden State’s Governor Chris Christie took some parting shots at the Nets, saying “Good riddance” to the departing Nets. Regardless of Crisco Christie’s apparent disdain for the Nets, Brooklyn will welcome them with open arms. The Brooklyn Nets are off to a good start: Mikhail Prokhorov has deep pockets and wants to win, Jay-Z IS Brooklyn (shouts out to Marcy Projects) and the new logo and colors are tough. All we need now are some good draft picks, a star free agent or two and we’ll be killing it in the Eastern Conference. Brooklyn Nets tickets are going on sale Tuesday, May 1 at 10 am on the Brooklyn Nets site, but if you’re a resident of Brooklyn, you can get yours early at 11 am today, April 30! I’m going to be at the Barclays in 2012-2013 checking out the Brooklyn Nets myself, can’t wait for that first Battle of New York showdown against Melo and the New York Knicks. #HelloBrooklyn and #GoodbyeNewJersey and #GoodriddanceChrisChristie!
