Justin Bieber, Jay-Z and Barbra Streisand are among the many celebrities performing at Brooklyn's new $1 billion Barclays Center in 2012
Brooklyn may have lost the Dodgers to Los Angeles, but it only makes the return of pro sports to BK that much more gratifying. The rebirth of Brooklyn starts with the new home of the Brooklyn Nets at the corner of Flatbush and Atlantic. It won’t just be basketball players hitting the hardwoods, however, a gaggle of celebrity geese will be waddling into Brooklyn to perform. Jay-Z is kicking off the opening of Brooklyn’s new $1 billion Barclays Center Arena with a September 28 concert, but the momentum won’t stop there. Hova’s coronation will be followed by a star-studded lineup of acts in the following months including Barbra Streisand, Rush, and Justin Bieber. The official Barclays Center website is certainly a Belieber, with Biebs’ face plastered all over the front of the site. Biebs touches down in Brooklyn on November 12, 2012. Barbra Streisand will be at the Barclays Center on October 11 and October 13. You can check out the full events calendar at the Barclays Center official site. The New York Islanders may be moving in as well and the Atlantic 10 basketball tournament will also be taking place at the new arena. There will be no shortage of entertainment at the Barclays Center, so hop on one of the 11 subways that end at Barclays and come see Brooklyn reborn. You can check out 3-d seat views from the new stadium at the Barclays Center site too. I’m in the virtual house already. I also just heard that Jeremy Lin may be leaving the Knicks. From one borough to the next, I can picture Jeremy Lin in a Brooklyn Nets jersey this season. You never know, it could happen. Where Brooklyn at? STAND UP!
